Homeopathic Research

I once had a person who did not “believe in” homeopathy insist that there have never been any studies conducted which showed its efficacy. While it is true, I told her, that studies are currently designed to support the testing of allopathic medications and not ideal for homeopathy, it is 100% false that there are no studies supporting it. In fact, there are over 5,000 studies which focus on homeopathy. Most can be found on PubMed. I then sent her a link to hundreds of studies. Her response? “I don’t have time to read any of that”. No surprise that she had no understanding of homeopathy.
When I was attending school for homeopathy, I had someone attempt to talk me out of it. He had nothing to base his assertion that it didn’t work on, but told me it was useless anyway. After several minutes of going back and forth he finally told me, “I don’t understand how it works, and therefore I don’t believe in it.”
It’s difficult to be a homeopath in the US in the current time. Many people have never heard of homeopathy, and many others have been convinced it’s nothing but placebo (an interesting assertion, considering it works for babies, animals, people in comas, etc.). Everywhere we look it seems we are awash in allopathic medications. I understand why it’s difficult for people to see that there are any other approaches!
Social media platforms and web browsers also limit access to homeopathy. Alternative medicine accounts are given extremely limited reach. Similar websites come up much lower in search results. Once thought to be nothing but a conspiracy theory, this practice is now fairly well known. Anything labeled alternative is kept out of the public eye as well as possible. We live in a time where everyone gets most of their information online, so this is an obvious problem.
It remains my hope that in my lifetime I will see homeopathy reemerge as a respected profession in this country and homeopathic clinics and hospitals will once again be numerous in the US. What a wonderful ideal, to see allopaths and homeopaths working together.

Materia medica

Lycopodium (Lyc): This remedy tends to have issues with self-esteem and confidence. They can become depressed, withdrawn, and anxious. The focus of their anxiety is most often their health and their career. The patient benefitting from this remedy may experience symptoms moving from right to left and may have an aggravation in the evening. Fasting makes them feel worse, and being in the open air makes them feel better. Some patients experience greying of the hair earlier in life. An interesting symptom found in some patients is one hand or foot being much colder than the other.
